Who is Leigh Hawes?
Well, I am your average every day Maine citizen, a truck driver, a father of 2 daughters, and a grandfather of 3. I am a very conservative person, both fiscally, and politically, and I think that is what this country needs. America needs someone in DC who isn't very quick to get out the taxpayer checkbook to attempt to solve state problems. America needs a different approach on a variety of issues that we face today.
Since I do not have big money donors backing my campaign, I am not indebted to anyone for what I am doing except for the average person that is supporting me right now, and those numbers will climb as more and more people become familiar with the kind of person that I am.
Everyone who knows me personally, knows that I will do everything that is in my power to help pretty much anyone, and it is that attitude of helping which will be one of the guiding principals with the way that I will conduct business if elected to the US Senate.
The second guiding principal, which is equally important, will be the Constitution of the United States. Nearly everyone in the country can agree that there are too few members of the Congress that actually use the Constitution as a rule when deciding on what to move forward for bills and regulations. That needs to change right now. Our founding fathers never envisioned such a bloated, behemoth of a government that we have today, and in order to tame this beast, it is going to take an extreme approach, much like electing men and women to the legislature that are not part of the beltway elites. By electing average, hard working Americans to the Congress, we will have done the impossible. We will have brought a sense of responsibility to Washington, and we will be able to stop wasting the tax dollars of the country...
But, we need to take that first step... we need to show the beltway elitists that America is not going to vote for the lesser of two evils anymore. We cannot stand for this "oh well... " attitude anymore...
